Unstartling title.

I'm in Fresno.

Tomorrow is the party.

I was in my first car crash today.

I was in the car with my aunt Gioia driving.

I'm okay, of course. It was just a slight condition.

Really I was more scared of the passenger of the other car who was flipping out.

By that I mean she was mad- not that she flipped out of the car or anything.

Anyway, so I had aches and pains, but nothing serious. It wasn't at all as should as it could've been.

I'm really tired and you can probably tell, I am really tired.

So I will end this blog.

Boredom

It's not like I haven't been going anywhere or doing anything these days, but I still feel really bored without school to worry about.

The stressed I am, the more I tend to make time to take it easy and read, and now that I'm graduated, I'm slowly making my way through the book I bought right after graduation.

I told Roxie the other day that I'm wanting to get a job but I only really have two months and she recommended that I go to a temp agency. So I applied there and interviewed today. The woman I talked to seemed like she'll try really hard to find placements for my limited amount of time.

I'm excited about the big graduation party in Fresno this Saturday. It's in honor of my graduation- as well as Sam's, Arpee's, and Dan's (although it's a bit on the tardy side for that one). A lot of family is coming to this- including my grandfather from Texas. :)

Finishing off this blog post, if you ever had any doubts that Krystina and Bethany are soulmates, here's part of a myspace screen capture---

The alignment is kind of odd, but oh well.

Pork and Beans (song title)

I don't usually care to put youtube videos up on my blog because I've never really been the sort of person who is truly comfortable sharing stuff I like.

People have a tendency to make weird assumptions about what I do and don't pick up on.

But this video will be an exception because it's awesome. Plus, my older cousin Dan posted it on his blog, so I wanted to do the same.

Although I only have a few songs from Weezer on my iPod, I always liked the band because of it's knack for making very original songs that I can't seem to get enough of over a period time.

Not only is this song really awesome, but the video is perhaps the greatest thing ever.

They got a bunch of people and elements from popular internet videos (old and new) and put them all together in one really awesome music video.

If all else fails, you can enjoy the appearance of Charlie the Unicorn at the end.

Paper recycling

So yesterday I started filling a box of things that I want to keep here in the US while I'm in Japan. It's a rather big box and I have it filled almost completely.

Looking around, though, just that one box made a big difference.

It made me realize that most of my room's clutter is nothing more than papers.

Schoolwork, notebooks, binders, boxes that once had electronics or shoes in them, etc.

And suddenly it dawned on me that once I get that stuff taken care of (mostly thrown away) that my existence would be almost as sparse and simple as I've always wanted it to be.

Our recycling bin is going to need therapy after this.

Hioki

So I got my JET placement today- Hioki city in Kagoshima prefecture. It's located about halfway between IchikiKushikino (Salinas' sister city that I've been to twice) and Kagoshima city. This means that I've probably been through Hioki city a few times before and simply hadn't thought anything of it. But yeah, that's where I'm going to live starting August. :)

So I'm trying to sort through things again. I have a get rid of box and a keep box. This kind of thing is difficult. Especially the gifts, I could want to get rid of things SO badly but then I'd remember who gave them to me. *sigh*

I guess I'd better get back to work on that.

It got colder

There's fog outside and I'm wearing a sweater.

Well, maybe the sweater isn't necessary at the moment, but I -can- wear one comfortably.

Needless to say, the temperature cooled down quite a bit since graduation day.

This is going to be my first blog in a while that won't contain a list.

Even though:

1) lists help me remember all that I was planning on talking about
2) they keep me from getting too sidetracked

However, this blog most certainly won't contain any lists.

...oh, nevermind.

My sunburn from the graduation is peeling.

I only really burned across my nose and under my eyes. My mom guesses that part of my face is extra sensitive from the sun because my glasses are usually blocking it.

I did wear contacts for the ceremony. Oh, and my right eye was rather red and painful the next day. I guess it was worth it- good pictures, etc. Plus the redness and pain the next day wasn't as bad as it was before.

I was thinking yesterday with a red eye and red (sunburned) skin, I should be glad I didn't dye my hair red again recently because then I would truly and most certainly be REDZILLA.

Tassels on caps and whiskers on kittens

So I graduated last Saturday.

...And it took me two days to actually post anything about it.

Here's my facebook album of pictures from the honors ceremony, capstone, and graduation.
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2012092&l=52d6f&id=83901494

The ceremony was a kind of odd experience- by odd I mean uncomfortable.

1) The area was reaching the end of a heat wave and our cap and gowns were black.
2) It was the second day of that time of the month (yeah yeah, TMI, I know)
3) I got a mysterious cut on my finger and I only had the program to use to clean the blood.
4) Our chairs were too close together for the heat.

On the other hand, I'm not the sort of person who would consider these sort of things completely ruin a situation for me. In fact, I knew during the duration of the ceremony that all of my ailments were just going to make my story later a little more interesting later on.

So when all was said and done, I became a college graduate. It's so weird to think that I'm out of school at least for now.

It's time to start really thinking about JET. One big project I started on yesterday was getting my life sorted into "keep" and "get rid of" boxes. Originally I thought I would have until I left for Japan to get all of this worked out, but I'm actually going to be (sort've) moving before then (it's kind of a long story.) Anyway, I currently have about 4 weeks to get all of these things sorted out.

I've been wanting to go through for AGES and get rid of most of my things simply for the purpose of making my life that much simpler. I figured that moving to Japan in August would be a good chance to do just that.

But still, looking around the room the other day, I keep thinking that I don't want to get rid of things because they were gifts or something. In some cases, I remember being a little kid and making such a huge deal about wanting something, so now I feel bad for not wanting to keep it. (Is that weird??)

I know that being in Japan away from so many of these things, my perceived "attachment" to them will dissolve and so I don't really want to come back to the US to receive boxes full of pointless things.

Anyway, I'm working through that.

In other news-

We found kittens outside last night in our back shed. They were adorable and we were tempted to keep them, but my mom took them to the SPCA today for many good reasons-
1) She's allergic (not deathly, but she was getting a pretty vicious rash last night)
2) I -might- be allergic (again, not deathly, but my nose acts kind of funny if I get too close to cat hair. So one cat might be okay if it doesn't sleep on my bed- four? noooo...)
3) We're going to be moving. (again, I don't really care to go into many details here, but it would be tough on the cats if we took them in)

Not to mention they seemed very content all together in one box and we couldn't keep them all. I know they'll probably get split up at the SPCA, but at least it wouldn't be my fault. Either way, it was fun to have cute little kittens in the house last night. :)

I know they'll be adopted really quick from there because tons of people go to the SPCA this time of year looking for kittens. I should know- I used to volunteer there.

By the way, in response to my brother's request for me to link to his blog, I'm going to start having links to other people's blogs on my page. The thing is, I don't know who's got blogs they wish to be linked to and who doesn't. This question is primarily (exclusively, even, possibly) going to Sam, Bethany, and Aya. I suppose I could also link to myspace blogs- so Krystina as well.

I suppose that's all- enough to explain my silly title, anyway.

Three things

I'm tired and I really feel like I should be getting some sleep now, but I'm chatting with Bethany for the first time in a while, so I'm up anyway.

1) I somehow got double booked for Wednesday.

Everyone in the capstone festival has to go in at 6 on Wednesday to set up for the presentations the next day. "Okay!" I replied.

I got an email. Apparently there is going to be a WLC Japanese year end party. It's at 6:30 on Wednesday. 'Okay!' I thought.

I finally put two and two together when exercising with my mom. I guess I'm going to have to be late for the party because the festival prep. might take a while (although it doesn't seem like it should.)

For some reason, one Wednesday being the same Wednesday as the other one just didn't process.

So my mom decided to pick on me.
"So we'll exercise Wednesday at 6, okay?"
(It didn't process this time, either) "Okay."

Later...
"Oh! You were picking on me!"
"You didn't know?"

I'm such an airhead.

2) My Japanese blogpet FINALLY changed.

Yes, it just grew extra... tube things. So now it has three, not just one, tube things to blow bubbles out of.

....

At least it's not as weird as when Aya's old blogpet randomly grew one long strand of hair from the top of it's head.

These things are weird.

3) I finished my portfolio representing all of my upper division work for my major. Eeek.

(yes, that is my pajama pant leg in this picture because I took it just now. (haha))

Anyway, it's pretty cool actually to compile your work and have so much of it. Good feeling. Just a little funny that I'm making this so that I can give it away to be an example of other big binders to be given away.

That is all.

G'night...

Things

1) I have a little bit more than a week left before I graduate.
2) I still haven't received my assignment of where I am going to live in Japan.
3) I have a cold. It's mostly in my head. This morning, I was woken up by a horrible headache at around 6 and I couldn't get back to sleep until around 8. Then I slept in even though I really didn't want to.
4) I saw a squirrel get hit by a car yesterday. :( I mean, I've seen squirrels running around the road and I've seen dead squirrels on the road, but I ever saw the part when the squirrel actually died before. It was the car in front of me so I pretty much saw everything. I'm weird that I didn't have any appetite for meat during dinner because of that. Dinner was chicken, by the way- no relation to squirrel. Anyway, it made me sad. RIP squirrel.
5) It's weird that with all the stuff I have going on, the longest thing I wrote so far was about a squirrel.
6) Apparently it's weird that I think people should sign a single card all in the same color. Unless, of course, it's supposed to be signed in all kind of different colors. Is it weird that it irks me a little bit if a bunch of people sign a card in black and then someone comes along and signs in blue? I guess it is weird.

That is all for now. (I suppose)

Eyes and face

So I went to the eye doctor's again this morning and it went very much as predicted. I already knew that my eyes weren't better because the right one has been turning red lately.

But it wasn't all bad.

She pointed out to me that my left eye was far worse last time and now it's almost completely better. My right eye, which wasn't the really bad one before, still needs to get better.

It was nice to hear that it's improved.

I told her that I am graduating in two weeks and she asked me if I wanted to wear contacts for graduation. I told her that I stopped worrying about it because I decided it was pointless and not helping, but she told me that I could actually wear them then!

Then after I told her that I've been having to throw away contacts after just one time wearing them because of the infection, she gave me some trial contacts so that I wouldn't have to waste my own for that day. :D

I expressed concern that my eyes would get really red and painful as they did previous times I tried to wear contacts, but she assured me that my eyes are improved enough that I wouldn't have a strong reaction to wearing them just a little.

:)

In other news, Gus (the tech guy of WLC) recorded all of us saying our names, capstone titles, etc. and recently posted it on the WLC site. So I amused myself today going over my part of it pausing it to laugh at my weird facial expressions.
This one was the best, I think:

LOL.

The people in the room were telling me that I was good on camera. Psssh.

My face is weird. :)
